I'm Hillary Leung, a bilingual journalist with an interest in reporting on social issues and politics in my hometown of Hong Kong. I'm currently a senior reporter at Hong Kong Free Press, which I joined in December 2021. I've also worked at Coconuts Media and TIME Magazine, where I covered the 2019 protests in Hong Kong as well as current affairs in Asia broadly.
In 2021, I was named a Clare Hollingworth Fellow by the Foreign Correspondents' Club, an annual award recognizing early career journalists in Hong Kong.
I graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a double major in journalism and sociology in 2017.
I'm fluent in English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
A selection of my published work, split broadly into the three categories of Hong Kong politics, COVID-19 pandemic and social issues, can be found on this website. For more, head over to my author pages on TIME, Coconuts and Hong Kong Free Press.
