I'm Hillary Leung, a bilingual journalist with an interest in reporting on social issues and politics in my hometown of Hong Kong. I'm currently Regional Managing Editor at Coconuts Hong Kong, and prior to that, covered news in Asia—including Hong Kong's 2019 anti-government protests—for TIME Magazine.
In 2021, I was named a Clare Hollingworth Fellow by the Foreign Correspondents' Club, an annual award recognizing early career journalists in Hong Kong.
I graduated from the University of Hong Kong with a double major in journalism and sociology in 2017.
I'm fluent in English and Cantonese, and proficient in Mandarin.
A selection of my published work, split broadly into the three categories of Hong Kong politics, COVID-19 pandemic and social issues, can be found on this website. For more, head over to my author pages on TIME and Coconuts.
